Magnitude-5.2 quake strikes northeast of Surigao del Norte


A magnitude-5.2 earthquake struck 15 kilometers northeast of Burgos, Surigao del Norte on Saturday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The quake struck at 6:34 p.m., was tectonic in origin, and had a 22-kilometer depth of focus.

The tremor was felt at Intensity IV in Burgos and Santa Monica, Surigao del Norte.

It was at Intensity III Pilar and Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte.

And it was felt at Intensity II in Surigao City, General Luna, and Dapa, Surigao del Norte.

The quake was also measured at an Instrumental Intensity III in Surigao City.

Though no damage was expected from the quake, aftershocks were expected. — DVM, GMA News
