Boracay hotel and resto ordered closed due to alleged violations of sanitation rules
A hotel and restaurant in Boracay has been shut down due to violations of sanitation and environment regulations.
According to Tina Panganiban Perez's report on "24 Oras" on Saturday, Malay Mayor Ceciron Cawaling ordered that Lishui Beach Resort be closed down after it was found that the establishment disposed of waste directly from its kitchen to the beach.
Task Force Hawan also said that the resort has had no sanitation permit since 2017 and that 15 of its employees lacked health certificates.
Lishui Beach Resort is the first establishment to be closed down since President Rodrigo Duterte ordered Boracay to be cleaned up due to the environmental issues plaguing the island.
Boracay hosts an average of two million visitors annually. —Jessica Bartolome/NB, GMA News
