Grass fire strikes foot of Mt. Banahaw

A grass fire raged in Candelaria, Quezon at the foot of Mt. Banahaw, GMA News correspondent Peewee Bacuño reported Tuesday.

Citing information from BFP Candelaria, the fire in Barangay Masalukot 3 may have been started Tuesday morning by a group of animal herders.

The blaze, still ongoing as of Tuesday afternoon, has engulfed at least one hectare of land.

Authorities added there was difficulty in getting to the location due to the lack of an access road.

As the fire on dry grass was reported to spread rapidly in the direction of Barangay Pinagdanlayan in Dolores due to the wind, the BFP Dolores and anti-forest fire authorities in Quezon have also been alerted.
