Pasang-Masda, STOP-Pampanga members brawl at DOTr compound
Members of two transport groups figured in a full-blown brawl at the Department of Transportation (DOTr) compound in Clark, Pampanga on Wednesday.
According to a report on QRT, Pasang Masda members, including their leader Obet Martin, were walking out of DOTr when they were confronted out by members of the Samahan Ng Mga Tsuper At Operator Tutol Sa Phase Out - Pampanga (STOP-Pampanga).
The shouting match led to the brawl that was only broken up after a security guard fired a warning shot.
Transportation Undersecretary Tim Orbos confronted both groups before they were sent to a police station at Clark.
In separate interviews on QRT, STOP-Pampanga Spokesperson Danilo Yumul and Martin explained that the brawl stemmed from a fundamental disagreement over the impending jeepney modernization program.
Pasang Masda is for jeepney modernization while STOP-Pampanga is against it.
The DOTr released a statement on the fight, wherein they said: "Ang nais lang naming iparating sa kanila at sa publiko ay ito: Walang mangyayari kung lahat ay dadaanin natin sa init ng ulo." —Rie Takumi/NB, GMA News
