Priest turns Bulacan church's altar into dance floor

A priest performed a ballroom dance to the tune of a pop hit at an unusual dance floor—the front of his church's altar, disappointing some parishioners.

In a report by Victoria Tulad on Unang Balita on Tuesday, a video was shown where Reverend Father Wilfredo Lucas, parish priest of the San Miguel Arkanghel Parish Church in Plaridel, Bulacan, was caught ballroom-dancing with a partner in the colorfully-lit altar supposedly as part of his birthday celebration.

The report said the priest usually holds events inside the church to scrimp on venue costs. A ballroom night is set for February 10, in time for Valentine’s Day—and the venue is, again, the church.

GMA News tried to get in touch with the priest for comment.

“Ang harap ng simbahan ay sambahan, hindi sayawan,” said a resident.

“Dapat hindi ganyan, respeto sa mga tao,” another said.
