Farmer loses fingers to firecracker due to sticky hands

A farmer lost two of his fingers after a firecracker stuck to the leftover rice cake on his hand exploded, according to a report on Balitanghali on Wednesday.

The 48-year-old farmer from Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, reportedly lit a "five star" firecracker after eating suman.

The firecracker stuck to his sticky fingers when he tried to throw it and it exploded in his hands, causing him to lose his pointer and middle finger.

The farmer was one of the 36 victims of fireworks-related injuries recorded in South Cotabato as of January 3.

Five star firecrackers are illegal under Republic Act 7183 or the law on pyrotechnic devices. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
