Carigara town in Leyte placed under state of calamity
The municipality of Carigara in Leyte has been placed under a state of calamity due to Tropical Depression Urduja.
The Carigara Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said town was placed under a state of calamity on Saturday due to "risks and damages brought upon by Urduja."
Carigara is the third municipality in Eastern Visayas to be placed under a state of calamity.
Tacloban and Ormoc cities made separate declarations due to damages wrought by the cyclone.
Urduja slammed into Eastern Samar on Saturday afternoon and cross Samar provinces until early Sunday.
Weather bureau PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. bulletin that Urduja has moved over Masbate.
The cyclone is expected to pass Palawan and stay near the province before its expected exit from the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday. —ALG, GMA News
