Heavy rains flood parts of Gumaca town in Quezon

Floods hit several areas in Gumaca town in Quezon province due to heavy rains on Monday.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said floods in the town went as much as waist-deep.

Several residents in Barangay Mabini were preemptively evacuated by the MDRRMO.

Classes up to the secondary level in the town have been canceled due to the bad weather.

Weather bureau PAGASA said in its 5 a.m. bulletin that flash floods and landslides are expected in Quezon province, Bicol and Eastern Visayas due to the bad weather brought on by the tail-end of a cold front.

The cold front and a low pressure area near Surigao provinces are also expected to bring heavy rains in several parts of Luzon including CAvite, laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and the Mimaropa area.

Parts of Mindanao and Visayas are also expected to have a bad weather today. —Peewee Bacuño/ALG, GMA News
