CAAP extends suspension of Iloilo Airport operations
Operations at the Iloilo International Airport will remain on hold until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday after the "runway excursion" incident, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.
In an advisory, the CAAP said it extended the notice to airmen (NOTAM) which enforces the closing of the airport until 7:00 p.m. on October 15.
The CAAP earlier said operations would be put on hold until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14 after a Cebu Pacific A320 aircraft swerved to the left of Runway 20.
"CAAP investigators from the Aircraft Accident Investigation & Inquiry Board (AIIB) together with the recovery team arrived this morning via Roxas Airport to conduct investigation and assess the situation," it said.
"Runway clearing operations are in progress and additional aircraft lifting equipment has been flown by an airforce C-130 from Manila via Roxas Airport," it said, adding that "inclement weather is prevalent in the area." — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
