Chemical waste suspected cause of fish kill in Masantol, Pampanga

Tons of fish died in a river in Masantol, Pampanga due to the chemical waste allegedly dumped by two factories, residents said.

According to a report on Unang Balita on Thursday, fishpond owners are concerned that the water from the river will seep in their fishponds.

If that happens, they said they will lose millions of pesos, and many fishermen will be affected.

Fishpond owners are coordinating with the local government, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources regarding the matter. —KG, GMA News
