Fire destroys 50 houses in Marawi City
Fire hit about 50 houses in Barangay Datu Saber, Marawi City on Monday night, according to a 24 Oras report by Sandra Aguinaldo on Tuesday.
The houses are located along Calle Bisaya that were for the staff of the Amai Pakpak Hospital.
The estimated cost of damage was pegged at P600,000, the Bureau of Fire Protection in the war-torn city said.
There were two incidents of power outages in the area and authorities are trying to determine whether these caused the fire.
It was on May 23 that members of the Maute group reportedly took over the hospital when they attacked the city.
After the terrorist group attacked the Islamic city, President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law on the entire island of Mindanao. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BAP, GMA News
