Landslide forces closure of Tublay highway in Benguet

Local authorities have temporarily closed  a portion of a national highway in Tublay town in Benguet to motorists due to a landslide that hit the area Friday night. 

Rain-soaked soil, rocks, and boulders covered a road section at Km. 15 Ambassador following intermittent downpour.

Clearing operations have continued on Saturday, Tublay officials said.

Local government officials and members of Tublay police began working on the highway at 6 a.m. Saturday, in a clearing operation that was expected end by 12 noon. —Peewee Bacuño/LBG, GMA News
