Arrested Ozamiz City vice mayor, brother to be brought to Manila

Arrested Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez and brother Reynaldo Jr. are set to be brought to Camp Crame Monday morning, a day after the pre-dawn drug raid on their homes.

Philippine National Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Dionardo Carlos said the Region 10 police are planning to move the Parojinogs today.

A total of 15 people were killed in the clash which took place while policemen were serving search warrants on houses belonging to the Parojinog family around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Among those killed were Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog; his wife, Susan; and his brother, Provincial Board Member Octavio Parojinog.

Misamis Occidental provincial police office Chief Senior Superintendent Jaysen de Guzman earlier said the police officers were met by a volley of gunfire as they were about to enter the Parojinogs' compound.

He said that after an almost two-hour clash, the police officers were able to breach the Parojinogs' houses, but were still met with resistance from the mayor's group. —KG/KVD, GMA News
