Benguet police clear Acop-Kapangan Road after rains cause landslide


Officers from the Tublay Municipal Police Station in Tublay, Benguet on Sunday conducted clearing operations along the Acop-Kapangan-Kibungan-Bakun Road after rains caused a landslide in some parts of the road.

According to GMA News stringer Peewee Bacuño, the landslide covered a large portion of the highway and brought down an electricity pole.

Some areas in town had no electricity due to the storm.

Tropical Storm Huaning is currently bringing winds and rain to northern and Central Luzon as it makes its way to Taiwan. It is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday afternoon.

In its 11 p.m. update, PAGASA said that Huaning as of 10 p.m. Sunday was 290 kilometers northwest of Basco, Batanes, and had maximum sustained winds of 85 kph and gusts of 120 kph.

Monday classes have been cancelled in several areas in Benguet, including Tublay, due to the weather. — BM, GMA News
