Photos of Maute members circulated in CDO checkpoints
Authorities have circulated in checkpoints in Cagayan de Oro City the photos of the 84 identified members of Maute group, whose attack in Marawi City earlier this week prompted the declaration of martial law in the entire Mindanao.
In a report by GMA News' Saleema Refran on 24 Oras on Friday, police said they are trying to prevent hostilities from escalating in other areas in Mindanao.
"'Yung mga pictures nila na binigay sa amin, dina-download sa amin [kasi] posible na lumipat sila dito," said Chief Insp. Richard Catipay, deputy chief of police in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental.
"Madaan sa area namin kaya nga tinitingnan namin sa sasakyan kung sakali nagkahawig 'yung mukha nila, pwede natin damputin sila," he added.
The report said the pictures came from the intelligence community and include photos of Cayamora and Farhana Maute, the alleged leaders of the group, and Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon.
Also included are Abdullah, Omarkhayam, Mohammadkhayam, Abdulrahman, Abdul Azis, Hamza Maute and other suspects who pledged allegiance to the local terrorist group.
Meanwhile, motorists said they support such inspection as it is necessary for the safety of civilians. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
