Maute group ties up, shoots dead 9 civilians in Marawi
Nine civilians in Sitio Moncado, Barangay Kadingilan, Marawi City have been killed by the terrorist Maute Group, according to a report by Jun Veneracion on "24 Oras" on Wednesday.
The report said the victims, who were on board a truck, were forced to stop by Maute group members at a checkpoint. The victims' hands were tied and they were shot dead.
Meanwhile, elite fighters from the Philippine Army were deployed in the area to fight the local terrorist group.
Pursuit operations against 20 to 100 Maute group members are ongoing, the report added.
The military has counted five dead and 31 wounded on the government side in the clashes so far.
Moreover, the Interior and Local Government department confirmed that at least 107 inmates have been freed by 50 heavily armed members of Maute group who barged into Marawi City Jail and Malabang District Jail. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA News
