CAAP unsure when Surigao Airport will resume operations
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Monday said it is unsure when the Surigao City Airport will resume operations, as it will need more time to assess the damage from Friday's earthquake.
On Saturday, CAAP issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) ordering the airport to close down until March 10 after Surigao was hit by a magnitude 6.7 quake 10:03 p.m.
Meantime, Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade ordered nearby Butuan Airport to go on 24-hour daily operations to accommodate planes carrying relief goods for survivors. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
