Camarines Sur placed under state of calamity due to Nina


The provincial government of Camarines Sur on Monday declared a state of calamity due to the effects of Typhoon Nina on the province.

Strong winds and heavy rains struck the province as it was placed under tropical cyclone warning signal number 4 along with Catanduanes on the night of Christmas Day.

The typhoon alert over the province was lowered to signal number 2 on Monday morning.

In its bulletin issued at 8 p.m. Sunday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that a total of 20,290 families or 101,450 people were affected by the typhoon in 22 municipalities in Camarines Sur. —ALG, GMA News
