Mark Anthony Fernandez’s arraignment rescheduled
The scheduled arraignment of actor Mark Anthony Fernandez for civil disobedience did not push through on Monday due to a pending motion, a report on News To Go said.
Fernandez is facing the said charge at the Angeles City Municipal Trial Court Branch 1 after he reportedly tried to run away from the police during his arrest on Oct. 3.
The actor was nabbed at a checkpoint in Angeles City in Pampanga after a kilo of marijuana was allegedly found in his possession.
He is also facing a separate charge at the Angeles City Regional Trial Court Branch 60 for his alleged violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
On Monday, Fernandez arrived at the Angeles City MTC Branch 1 past 8 a.m. in a white private SUV escorted by jail guards and accompanied by his mother, actress Alma Moreno, and his lawyer, GMA News' Steve Dailisan reported.
The two arresting officers, PO2 Fernando Ladrillo and PO2 Jayson Dimaculangan, also attended the hearing on Monday, the report said.
Security was tight and journalists were not allowed inside the court.
Fernandez's lawyer, Atty. Sylvia Flores, said the court is awaiting the motion for reconsideration especially since the court allowed an amended complaint from the prosecution.
The arraignment has been rescheduled to Nov. 21.
Meanwhile, Judge Edna Era of RTC Branch 60 inhibited from hearing the case for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The case was raffled off to acting Judge Meridith Malig of RTC Branch 58. The arraignment for this case has been scheduled on Nov. 8.
From the Angeles City MTC Branch 1, Fernandez was to be brought back to the Pampanga Provincial Jail on Monday.
Moreno was also said to be proceeding to the jail facility to visit Fernandez on Monday. —KG, GMA News
