Barangay chairman, treasurer killed in Isabela gun attack

Two people were killed in a shooting incident last Sunday in Benito Soliven town in Isabela, a television report said Wednesday.

Citing local authorities, Unang Balita identified the fatalities as barangay chairman Emilio Lazaro and barangay treasurer Wilson Galapon of Barangay Makindol.

An initial police investigation showed that barangay officials were in a meeting inside the chapel at about 3 p.m. when four armed men on motorcycles shot the victims.

Galapon died on the spot, while Lazaro was declared dead at a hospital, the report said. 

Police are determining the identities of the attackers and investigating the motive for the crime. —LBG, GMA News
