Another NGCP tower bombed in Cotabato

Unidentified men bombed a transmission tower of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in Carmen, Cotabato on Saturday night.

Superintendent Bernard Tayong, Cotabato provincial police spokesperson, said the attack happened at around 6 p.m. in Barangay Kitulaan.

Tayong said the bombers failed topple the transmission tower.

The bandit group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters had taken responsibility of bombings of NGCP towers in the past.

Police have yet to determine if the same group was responsible in the latest attack.

The provincial police has been placed under heightened alert after the attack, which came hours after the Davao City night market blast that left 14 people dead and more than 60 wounded. —ALG, GMA News
