Ozamiz City execs surrenders high-powered weapons
CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City - Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo "Aldong" Parojinog, Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez and Councilor Ricardo "Ardot" Parojinog surrendered on Monday several high-powered firearms at the Ozamiz City Police Station, the Philippine Information Agency Region 10 reported.
Earlier, Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa ordered that the 19 firearm licenses registered under their names be revoked.
Dela Rosa's order was issued after President Rodrigo Duterte announced a list judges, police officers, soldiers, and local executives allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade, including Reynaldo Parojinog, Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez, and Ricardo Parojinog.
PNP Northern Mindanao Regional Director Supt. Noel Constantino has ordered the immediate recall of police officers detailed as security escorts to alleged narco politicians in Duterte's list and withdrew their deputation authority over the PNP pursuant to National Police Commission Memorandum Circular No.99-010 and Sec. 65 of Republic Act 8551.
"This means they no longer have operational and administrative control and supervision over the PNP in their respective areas," he said, adding that the police officers will be recalled and advised to report to their respective police stations.
"For now, they can employ the services of private security guards and protective agents duly authorized by Supervisory Office for Security and Investigating Agencies (SOSIA) and approved by the PNP," Constantino said. — BAP, GMA News
