Rice plants rotting amid days of floods in Ilocos Norte — report

Hundreds of hectares of rice plants in Ilocos Norte are rotting due to continuous heavy rains from Habagat that have turned farmlands in the province into swamps.

A report on Unang Balita on Wednesday said farmers are worried as their rice plants have begun to rot amid floodwater.

GMA News stringer Dennis Alipio quoted a farmer as saying their rice plants are not yet ripe for harvest, and that floods have not subsided for days.

Among the farmlands badly hit by flooding include those in Laoag City in Ilocos Norte. — LBG, GMA News
