8 killed, 5 hurt in Iloilo jeepney-truck collision

Eight people were killed and five others were hurt in a jeepney-truck collision in Barotac Nuevo town in Iloilo province on Thursday.

GMA News' stringer Rudjemar Sucaldito reported on Unang Balitat that all the fatalities were from the passenger jeepney, including the driver.

An initial police investigation showed that the truck driver lost control of the truck when one of the front tires broke off from the axle.

The truck then collided with the jeepney, and rammed a tree by the roadside.  The jeepney was in total wreck due to the impact of the collision, the report said. 

Also, it said the truck driver and his assistant were seriously injured. — LBG, GMA News
