Landslide hits Bontoc in Mountain province; road obstruction cleared

Heavy rains last Tuesday caused a huge landslide in Bontoc, Mountain province, a report said Thursday.

GMA News stringer Ferdie Castañeda reported on Unang Balita that Public Works' clearing operations began right after the landslide.

Boulders and rocks covered some portions of the Bontoc-Baguio road, leaving several motorists stranded, the report said.

As of posting time, the road was cleared for motorists who were advised to take extra precaution due to occasional rockfall and landslide when rain is heavy.

Last May 4, just two days before the 2016 national polls, Public Works officials closed the Bontoc Tunnel due to a rockslide also triggered by heavy rains. — LBG, GMA News
