Proposed Serendipity fund for poor families launched in Sorsogon


Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes initiated the launch of a campaign to allot 20 percent of government resources to an anti-povrty fund or Serendipity fund, according to a post on the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) news website.

The covenant signing held on April 9 at the Annunciation Parish in Bacon, Sorsogon was attended by religious leaders, government officials, youth representatives and members of civil society groups.

The Philippine Sovereign Fund for Better Social Security and Welfare Cover for All or Serendipity Fund entails the allocation of 20 percent of government resources into one fund that will be used for health services, housing, education, livelihood programs, emergency recovery during calamities, and retirement pension for the poor. — BAP, GMA News
