Cops disrupt bomb found at fruit stand in Tacurong City
Police recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) in a busy area in Tacurong City, on Monday morning.
Police said the IED, placed in a pink paper bag, was found under a fruit store's table in front of a gasoline station along the national highway in Barangay Poblacion at around 7 a.m.
The fruit stand's owner, Jocelyn Casana, asked for a street sweeper's assistance after noticing wires in the paper bag.
The street sweeper rushed to the police to report the discovery.
Members of the Tacurong City police cordoned off the area and disrupted the IED.
Investigators said the IED was made of an old Nokia cellphone model, a kilo of two-inch nails, a plastic container, a black powdery substance, batteries, an electronic circuit board with two toggle switches, a light bulb, tapes, wirings and a detonating cord.
Police have yet to determine which group planted the bomb. —Ferdinandh Cabrera/ALG, GMA News
