Supporters continue to hold vigil for disqualified Lanao del Sur mayor

The supporters of Kauswagan, Lanao Del Norte Mayor Rommel Arnado continued to hold vigil outside municipal hall after he was disqualified by the Supreme Court for using his US passport despite renouncing his US citizenship.

Arnado, a natural born Filipino, said he still could not be ousted from his position because the court has yet to respond to the motion of reconsideration filed by his camp, 24 Oras reported on Wednesday.

The Supreme Court has upheld its decision to disqualify Arnado after he continued to use his US passport even after filing an affidavit of renunciation in 2009 to reclaim his Filipino citizenship. —Rie Takumi/NB, GMA News
