Floods hit Cavite, Laguna towns

Cavite and Laguna provinces were hit by flooding early Sunday following heavy rains spawned by the enhanced northeast monsoon.

Gutter-deep floods were reported in along Aguinaldo Highway in Barangay Niyugan Tres, Bacoor town in Cavite province.

Other parts of the highway, including Panapaan Uno, were also flooded with gutter-deep water.

The minor flooding affected vehicular traffic on the highway.

Flooding was also experienced along Terrona Highway in Barangay Habay Uno in Kawit town.

The northeast monsoon brought heavy rains on Saturday after Typhoon Nona and Tropical Depression Onyok struck parts of the country.

Santa Rosa town in Laguna also experienced flooding early Sunday, following non-stop rains over the province.

Houses in two subdivisions in the town's Barangay Tagapo were hit by floodwaters.

Residents said that their town is the catch basin of rainwater from all the other towns in Laguna.

They also attributed the flooding to the town's creek that overflowed due to heavy rains brought on by the enhanced northeast monsoon. —ALG, GMA News
