Pangasinan placed under state of calamity
The province of Pangasinan was placed under a state of calamity on Tuesday due to the damage wrought by Tropical Storm Lando.
A radio dzBB report said that according to Rhodyn Oro, head of Pangasinan's Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMO), Lando's damage to infrastructure and agriculture was initially pegged at P60 million.
The report also said that according to Oro, seven people were killed during the onslaught of Lando in the province.
The PDRRMO said that a total of 2,480 families or 12,400 individuals have been displaced by the typhoon in the province.
Earlier reports said that six towns including Bugallon, Aguilar, Labrador, Infanta, Mabini and Mangatarem were hit by flash floods due to Lando's heavy rains.
A report on GMA News' Balitanghali said the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has warned of possible flooding in low-lying areas in the province, including Sto. Tomas, Sta. Barbara, Calasiao, Binmaley, Binalonan, Malsiqui and Dagupan City, because of the rising water level in Agno River.
The report added that flooding has also been reported in the towns of Alcala, Bautista, Bayambang, San Carlos, Urbiztondo and Lingayen. —ALG, GMA News
