NDRRMC: Flooding expected in 19 Pangasinan towns
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) advised its district counterparts in Pangasinan province to conduct preemptive evacuations due to expected flooding in some low-lying areas.
In its flood advisory issued 4 a.m. Sunday, said the water level of Agno River was expected to reach alarm level due to the release of water from the San Roque Dam.
It said the level of water of Ambayaoan and Banila rivers and streams may rise because of the dam's releasing of water.
The areas where flooding was expected were:
- San Nicolas
- San Manuel
- Asingan
- Tayug
- Sta. Maria
- Balungao
- Rosales
- Villasis
- Sto. Tomas
- Alcala
- Bautista
- Bayambang
- San Carlos City
- Urbiztondo

The NDRRMC said that it has advised "DRRMCs (district risk reduction management council) to initiate preemptive evacuation of families in low-lying areas and mountainous areas if the situation warrants."
The agency also reported that flooding may persist in low lying areas in Sta. Barbara, Calasiao, Binmaley, Binalonan, Malasiqui and Dagupan and Urdaneta cities due to the elevated water level of the Allied-Sonicalan, Ingalera and Tagamusing rivers.
Areas in Mangaldan, Mapandan, San Fabian, San Jacinto, Laoac, Manaoag, Sison and Pozorrubio were also expected to remain flooded as the water level of Allied-Bued, Patalan, Angalacan and Aloragat rivers were still at the critical level.
Tarlac City, Gerona, Paniqui, Moncada, Sta. Ignacia and Camiling towns in Tarlac province, were also flooded.
The NDRRMC said its units in these areas have been alerted and advised to take precautionary measures.
Flooding in the two provinces happened as Typhoon Ineng lashed Northern Luzon with torrential rains and strong winds.
The NDRRMC has confirmed 10 deaths due to Ineng. Majority of the fatalities were victims of landslides in Benguet province.
