75% power restored in Baguio City


Some parts of Baguio City remained without power as of Saturday morning, the regional civil defense office reported.
 
Radio dzBB reported that at least 75 percent of power has been restored in Baguio City, according to the Office of Civil Defense in the Cordillera Administrative Region.
 
It said efforts to fully restore power in the city were continuous.
 
The city experienced blackout after strong winds spawned by Typhoon Ineng (international name Goni) toppled at least 10 primary electric poles.
 
Several trees were also toppled during the typhoon's onslaught on Friday, rendering several roads in the mountain resort impassable.
 
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines reported that the La Trinidad-Sagada and La Trinidad-Philex lines auto-tripped minutes before 6 p.m. on Friday.
 
The two lines that supply power to Baguio and other parts of Benguet were energized before 9 p.m.
 
Benguet Governor Nestor Pongwan reported earlier that at least seven people have been confirmed killed in landslides in the province. —ALG, GMA News
