Parricide case filed vs. teen who killed grandma in Negros Occidental

Authorities have filed a parricide case against a 19-year-old boy accused of killing his grandmother  and eating the victim's heart in Negros Occidental.

A report on "Unang Balita" on Thursday also said the suspect is undergoing drug and psychological tests to determine his mental condition.

Earlier, the suspect said he killed his grandmother without any apparent reason, "napag-tripan lang niya."

But on Wednesday, police said the suspect withdrew his earlier statement and said a demon urged him to commit the crime.

The report quoted authorities as saying, "Mayroong umanong demonyo na bumulong sa kanya para patayin at kainin ang puso ng lola para magkaroon siya ng kapangyarihan."

An earlier report indicated that the suspect stabbed his grandmother to death and then ate her heart inside her home in Barangay Tapi in Kabankalan City before dawn on Tuesday.

Supt. Kabankalan City police chief German Garbosa said Ruben Jalaman has admitted to the crime at about 2 a.m. inside her home.

Garbosa said concerned citizens reported the incident around 5 a.m. after seeing the victim's lifeless body and her chest ripped open.

Garbosa said police officials then arrested Ruben, who later admitted committing the crime. —LBG/KG, GMA News
