'Miracle baby' weighing 700 grams gets special care at Tarlac hospital

A "miracle baby" weighing only 700 grams after his premature birth is getting extra special care from staff at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital.

The baby was born premature at eight months via Caesarian section at the hospital,  GMA News stringer Homer Teodoro reported.

Pediatrician Dr. Sherry Rose Tucay said the baby's vital signs appear normal at this time, and the baby has a good chance of developing normally.

Tucay said this was the first time she encountered a baby being born weighing only 700 grams and having a good chance of surviving.

She added the baby has passed the first seven days, which is considered a critical period for a prematurely born baby.

An aunt of the baby said the mother and the baby are doing well.  — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
