Negros Occidental diocese backs, localizes ‘Huwag kang Magnakaw’ campaign
The Catholic Church's "Huwag Kang Magnakaw" campaign gained traction in Western Visyas as the diocese of San Carlos in Negros Occidental threw its full support behind it.
San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza said they have translated the slogan to the local “Di mangawat" in Ilonggo and “Ayaw Pangawat” in Cebuano, Church-run Radyo Veritas reported.
"Patuloy pa rin pong on sale ang aming mga T-shirt na Huwag Magnakaw, ‘Ayaw (P)angawat’ sa Cebuano o ‘Di (P)angawat’ sa Ilonggo, naroon pa rin yun," said Alminaza, who chairs the Church People Workers Solidarity.
He added the local youth are "also participating in the campaign.”
Earlier, Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle pushed the “Huwag kang Magnakaw” campaign to promote a culture of honesty.
The campaign is expected to be more relevant as the 2016 elections draw closer. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
