Fetus stuffed in plastic bag left in Pangasinan lot
A fetus stuffed inside a plastic bag was abandoned in a banana plantation in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan early this week, a television report said Friday.
Children chanced on the plastic bag while playing near a lot in Barangay Nilombot, GMA Dagupan reported Friday.
Police said their initial findings showed the fetus was a male, about six to seven months.
"According nga po sa barangay officials, pinabayaan nga po yung fetus doon. Kung hayop nga po, nililibing natin, tao pa kaya?" said Sta. Barbara deputy police head Inspector Grandeur Tangonan.
Residents said the person who abandoned the fetus there may have been from another community as they had not noticed any pregnant woman in the area lately.
The fetus was immediately placed inside a box and buried because of its foul smell.
Police are checking leads on who left the fetus in the area.
"Sa ngayon under investigation pa po [ang kaso] pero nakikipag-ugnayan na tayo sa mga nearest hospital para at least makita kung naroon yung nanay," Tangonan said. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
