3 robbery suspects killed in Cavite shootout with cops

Three suspects in the series of robbery incidents in Cavite province were killed in a shootout with policemen shortly after they robbed a remittance center in Bacoor City, a report on “24 Oras” said Thursday.

The report said the still unidentified suspects were killed after they resisted arrest and decided to shoot it out with the policemen, who located their whereabouts at an abandoned house in Barangay Molino 5.

Before the incident, the suspects allegedly robbed an LBC branch in the area around 2 p.m. and took with them P10,000 and the personal belongings of the employees.



The robbery only lasted some five minutes with the suspects using a motorcycle as an escape vehicle, the report said. The employees of the remittance center immediately sought assistance from the police, which resulted in a pursuit operation.

The report said the policemen learned of the suspects' location through footage from CCTV cameras showing the kind of motorcycle used by the alleged robbers to escape.

Authorities then located the motorcycle parked outside an abandoned house which the suspects were using as a hideout.

The policemen initially tried to persuade the suspects to surrender, but they were shot at, prompting them to fire back, the "24 Oras" report said.

Two caliber .38 and one caliber .45 guns were recovered from the slain suspects, the report said. —Andrei Medina/KBK, GMA News
