Fire hits Lingayen dumpsite, threatens nearby residents' health
Tension gripped residents near a dumpsite in Lingayen town in Pangasinan after a fire of undetermined origin hit the facility Wednesday morning.
Residents feared thick smoke from the dumpsite fire may affect their children's health, GMA Dagupan's Jasmin Gabriel reported on "24 Oras North Central Luzon."
Investigation said the fire started at about 9 a.m. and spread quickly. Smoke from the fire threatened residents whose houses were meters away from the dumpsite.
Some residents said they had seen smoke from the dumpsite as early as three days before Wednesday's fire.
As of 5 p.m., the fire had yet to be put out.

The fire reached the second alarm.
"Masakit po sa dibdib," Bon Jovi Pasiliao, one of the children near the dumpsite, said of the smoke from the fire.
Resident Merly Pasiliao added, "Pag tuloy-tuloy ang usok sa bahay namin maaapektuhan ang mga bata." — Joel Locsin/ ELR, GMA News
