Project NOAH: Storm surge advisory up in 8 areas in Quezon, Bicol


Residents in eight areas in Quezon and Bicol were advised Friday to take precautions against possible storm surges as Typhoon Chedeng (Maysak) moves closer to Luzon.
 
Project NOAH said that as of 1:45 p.m., the eight areas were under Storm Surge Advisory 1, meaning storm surges of one to two meters tall are a possibility.
 
Areas warned were:
 
Quezon, Quezon: 1.0 to 1.5 meters
Calauag, Quezon: 1.5 meters
Gumaca, Quezon: 1.5 meters
Plaridel, Quezon: 1.5 meters
Lopez, Quezon: 1.5 meters
Libon, Albay: 1.0 to 1.5 meters
Oas, Albay: 1.0 to 1.5 meters
Tinambac, Camarines Sur: 1.0 to 1.5 meters
 
Quezon and Camarines Sur were placed under Storm Signal No. 1 as of Friday afternoon.
