NGCP: 9-hour power outage in Cebu on Sunday

A nine-hour power interruption may occur in parts of Cebu on Sunday, March 22, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said.

In its advisory, the NGCP said the affected areas include those serviced by Cebu Electric Cooperative.

The NGCP said the power interruption is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., affecting parts of CEBECO I.

This aims to facilitate annual preventive maintenance on NGCP's 30-megavolt power transformer, associated high-voltage equipment and secondary devices at Samboan Substation.

2 hour-long brownouts

In another advisory, the NGCP said two hour-long brownouts may occur in parts of Cebu serviced by CEBECO II.

NGCP said the interruptions are scheduled from 8 to 9 a.m., and from 4 to 5 p.m.

This is to facilitate emergency correction of hotspots on the 13.8-kilovolt switchgear connected to the 30-megavolt power transformer at Calongcalong Substation. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
