1 dead, 1 wounded in CamSur cockpit shooting

A son of a former barangay captain was shot dead inside a cockpit in Milaor town in Camarines Sur province on Monday.

 

The victim, identified as Jeff Villafuerte, 30, died from three gunshot wounds from a 9-mm pistol, GMA Bicol reported Tuesday.

 

Villafuerte's father Jojo had headed Barangay Peñafrancia in Naga City, the report said.

 

"Kung nasaan man kayo... hindi ko alam kung anong nangyari kung bakit ninyo 'yan ginawa sa anak ko. Siguro sa ikatatahimik ng lahat, sana sumuko na lang kayo sa tamang awtoridad," the elder Villafuerte appealed to the assailants.

 

Wounded in the shooting was Allan Balona, a collector inside the cockpit.

 

Now being tracked down are twins Emmanuel and Eusebio Rey, who were tagged as the gunmen. The two escaped after the shooting.

 

Police suspect a misunderstanding triggered the shooting.
