Fire destroys Cagayan de Oro’s hall of justice building

A fire of undetermined origin razed the Hall of Justice in Cagayan de Oro City late Friday night.

No one was initially reported injured in the fire, "24 Oras" Northern Mindanao posted on its Facebook page.

Photos posted by GMA Northern Mindanao's Jeik Compo showed firefighters trying to put out the fire.

The fire that reached the general alarm, destroyed the second floor, including the offices of the Provincial Prosecutor's Office.

A separate post by GMA Northern Mindanao's Kaye Mercado indicated the structural damage to the hall of justice amounted to P28 million.

GMA Northern Mindanao's Mercado also reported the building was deemed totally damaged due to the fire.

For its part, the Supreme Court's public information office said Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno is closely monitoring developments on the fire.
