Sorsogon City under state of calamity due to Ruby – NDRRMC


Sorsogon City is now under a state of calamity because of damage caused by Typhoon Ruby, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Saturday evening.
 
In its 6 p.m. update, the NDRRMC said this brought to 10 the number of local government units placed under a state of calamity in the wake of the cyclone.
 
The NDRRMC said Sorsogon City made the declaration via Resolution No. 400 last Dec. 6.
 
Local governments that have also declared a state of calamity - one way to get access to contingency funds - include:
 
 
  • Albay
  • Camarines Sur
  • Catanduanes
  • San Pablo City, Laguna
  • Masbate
  • Naga City
  • Juban, Sorsogon
  • Gubat, Sorsogon
  • Magallanes, Sorsogon
 
Ruby affected 823,589 families or 3,530,307 people. Of these, 62,768 families or 306,192 people are being served inside and outside 1,064 evacuation centers. At least 18 people died because of the typhoon. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
