NDRRMC: 4 more Bicol areas under state of calamity due to Ruby


At least four more areas in the Bicol Region were placed under a state of calamity due to Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday.
 
In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC said these included Naga City in Camarines Sur; and Juban, Gubat and Magallanes towns in Sorsogon.
 
Naga City passed a resolution for the state of calamity on Dec. 9, Tuesday. Juban, Gubat and Magallanes passed their respective resolutions Dec. 8, Monday.
 
As of Friday, the death toll remained at 19, with 916 injured.
 
The NDRRMC also said 694,277 families or 2,915,262 people were affected in Central and Southern Luzon, Bicol, Western, Central and Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Metro Manila.
 
Of these, 186,694 families or 868,624 people are being served inside and outside 3,003 evacuation centers.
 
At least 12 provinces in the Bicol Region and Central and Eastern Visayas are still experiencing power outages due to Ruby.
 
Damage
 
Estimated damage from Ruby went up to P3,349,359,620, including P1,435,804,523 in infrastructure and P1,913,555,097 in agriculture.
