Cavite residents evacuate from flood-prone areas ahead of Ruby
In anticipation of Tropical Storm Ruby, authorities in Cavite started evacuating residents in the province's flood-prone areas early Monday morning, a report on 24 Oras said.
These areas include San Rafael Tres and the other fishing communities in Noveleta.
"'Pag malakas po ang ulan at lumakas ang tubig sa dagat ay hindi n'yo na po makikita ang mga kalye na 'yan at mahihirapan po," the OIC of the Noveleta MDRRMO, Jeg Alix, explained.
However, some of the residents insisted on staying in their homes despite warnings that Ruby may bring heavy rainfall to Cavite.
Authorities also started to give out relief goods in Rosario and Noveleta.
"Ang estimate namin mga 10 p.m. [or] 11 p.m. tataas na ang tubig dito, kaya bago pa mangyari 'yun, namimigay na kami ng pagkain para hindi na sila maghahanap na," Governor Jonvic Remulla said.
The local government is also checking the status of Ylang-Ylang River. As of 4 p.m. Monday, it has not yet reached the 5-meter critical level. — Trisha Macas/BM, GMA News
