How Eastern Samar is bracing for Typhoon Ruby

(UPDATED 9:44 p.m.) In Eastern Samar, many residents took photos of the big waves but are aware of the danger, GMA News' Saleema Refran reported on "24 Oras."

In Borongan, many residents have started to stengthen their roofs and their homes.

Some families evacuated to the Eastern Samar State University, saying they learned their lesson from Yolanda.

But the report also said the local government unit is concerned about the supply of rice for the evacuees.

Some residents have taken to having themselves admitted in hospitals just to get shelter from approaching Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit).

A report by radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo said residents in Borongan City planned to be "confined" in the hospitals.

Many hotels in Borongan City have already been fully booked as residents seek stable shelter from the coming typhoon.

Residents also continued to queue at gas stations in Borongan City.
