De Lima: NBI can probe Camarines Norte gov’s sex scandal

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Tuesday said Camarines Norte Governor Edgardo Tallado can seek the help of the National Bureau of Investigation for possible cybercrime charges against the person who leaked photos showing he had an extramarital affair.

"The NBI has a cybercrime unit or division so if ang gusto niya (Tallado) is to trace, sino nag-upload noon, then puwede sigurong gawin iyan ng NBI Cybercrime Division," De Lima said.

De Lima however said up to now, she has yet to receive a formal request from Tallado for the NBI's help.

"Pending our receipt of any official or formal request from any party concerned, I don’t want to be commenting (further) on that," she added.

"Exactly ano gusto niya? To determine (sino nag-upload)? So that would be cybercrime," she said.

De Lima said once she gets a request from Tallado, she will forward it to the NBI Cybercrime Division.

On Monday, Tallado turned emotional while issuing an apology after the flag ceremony attended by local officials.

The governor also threatened to take legal action against those spreading photos of the supposed affair, including via social media.

The alleged affair surfaced last week after Tallado's wife Josie, who disappeared a few days, surfaced and claimed she ran away from their home for fear the governor may harm her.

She said at the time that the governor accused her of posting images of his supposed mistress on social media. —KG, GMA News
