Remains of teen who went missing in 2012 found in Los Baños

The decomposing remains of 13-year-old Mark Anthony Perez were found in Los Baños, Laguna more than a year after he went missing.

According to a report on GMA's “24 Oras” on Saturday, the boys remains were found wrapped in a fishnet earlier that day in a remote area in Brgy. Jamboree, Batong Malake.

The report said that he was found with a rope around his neck and his skull had been smashed in.

According to the police, the victim was probably killed because he was a witness in a robbery and arson case in the compound he stayed at.

Meanwhile, a witness who saw how the victim was killed said the victim was tied with a rope and wrapped in a fishnet before being strangled to death by a certain "Asiong". The boy is believed to have been killed by three assailants.

The victim's mother Rosemary Perez said the victim left their home in Bicol in June 2012 without their knowledge.

After two years, they filed a missing person report with the Laguna police. Police are investigating the boy's death and are looking for suspects.

The provincial government of Laguna has, for its part, pledged financial assistance to the victim's family who will transport his remains back to Bicol. — Andrei Medina/JDS, GMA News
