P3M shabu seized in Iloilo drug bust; drugs from Bilibid?

(Updated 12:33 p.m.) Some P3 million in methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) was seized while two women were arrested in an anti-drug operation at a motel in Iloilo City Tuesday night.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested the two during a sting operation in the Mandurriao district, GMA Iloilo's Fabienne Paredes reported.

According to the PDEA, the shabu weighed half a kilo and was wrapped in carbon paper and scotch tape.

PDEA agents first arrested Analyn Cabarobias, who was caught in the sting operation at a motel in Mandurriao that involved a gram of shabu for P1,500.

In a follow-up operation, PDEA agents arrested Racel Parreño and more drugs.

“Hindi niya muna dadalhin, hihintayin niya somewhere with another person na naroon, which will prove to us that this is not their first time,” said PDEA regional director Paul Ledesma.

The PDEA is verifying information on the supplier of the drugs, who it believes is in Luzon and sends the items via roll-on roll-off vessels.

"All indications would point na the transaction was made inside the New Bilibid Prison and it was delivered from the area of Muntinlupa, Alabang," Ledesma said. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
