Suspects in Anria Espiritu slay to be presented to prosecutors

The three suspects in the rape and murder of a 26-year-old woman in Calumpit, Bulacan are scheduled to undergo inquest proceedings on Tuesday.

The loved ones of the victim, Anria Espiritu, are worried that one of the suspects, Elmer Joson, may be released because he hasn't been charged yet, a report on GMA News TV's News To Go has said.

One of the possible witnesses to the crime has reportedly also backed out.

Joson was the driver of the jeep that Espiritu last rode before she was found dead on Thursday.

Before he was arrested, Joson even dropped by Espiritu's wake.  Two other suspects were earlier arrested and interrogated.

Espiritu's mother, Gloria Espiritu, said that her daughter was last seen leaving for a night out with friends on Wednesday. Her family could no longer contact her past 2 a.m. on Thursday.

Her body was found later that day naked with multiple stab wounds.

The Calumpit Police Station has already formed Task Force Anria to investigate on the case.

Meanwhile, a Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/JusticeforAnria, was set up to call on justice for Anria Espiritu. —Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
